Of the many principles that national hero Jose Rizal has instilled in us, one stands out as perennially true for as long as mankind thrives. Bayanihan is our way of life because resources and manpower are scarce and expensive. We need to believe that true heroism is being able to get past just our needs and looking for ways to help people, especially those who cannot help themselves.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has always been at the forefront of this heroism, but the responsibility of caring for communities is a shared one. Every now and then, PRC has to reach out and remind those who have more to support services and heed the call for contribution.
The Great Rizal Run of the PRC – Rizal Chapter is a timely event since we have just began our wet season and that clearly means an anticipation for some natural calamities to come our way. If any, let us help PRC provide for all – not just on blood services but more imminently, disaster -responsiveness strategies like rescue missions.
With the technical expertise from Pinoy Aspiring Runners (PAR) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) the race will give the ultimate runners high on a foot-tour of ULTRA, with its many flats but surprisingly refreshing hills.
The Great Rizal Run encourages practically everyone to be counted to contribute to a higher purpose. The organizers have ensured a fun time and quality souvenirs from the moment one claims his racekit, all the way after crossing the finish line (depending on the category registered):
