Flashback: In November 2018, UP rose from the dark ages and fought hard in the UAAP Season 81 Finals. While succumbing with much humility to the stronger Adamson University, history also recorded the powerful display of competence, teamwork and champion-spirit that put the Fighting Maroons on the map 32 years ago.

Riding on this high and in a show of force, the NoWhereToGoButUP Foundation in partnership with RUNRIO Events Inc., presents the inaugural The Great UP Run to be held on August 11, at the UP Diliman, Quezon City. Designed to be an annual event, the race will kick-off the upcoming season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).
On its first edition, the event is targeting to attract 3,000 runners participating in favorite race distances 3K, 5K and 10K…but, surprise, surprise! A half-marathon category has been added in the tradition of RunRio competitive events! This distance is almost unprecedented in this North Manila venue and can only happen from the expert logistics work of RunRio.

Registration Fees
21KM: Php1,100
10KM : Php800
5KM : Php700
3KM : Php600
To entice long-distance runners, the 21km registrants who will successfully finish the race will receive a specially-themed finisher’s shirt and a finisher’s medal.
Registration Schedules and Venues
Online registration for this race has already started. Interested participants can visit the The Great UP Run page on the RUNRIO Events Inc. website (https://www.runrio.com/race/registration/the-great-up-run) to register. Online registration is available until July 29.
As the race is part of NoWhereToGoButUP’s thrust of supporting the varsity teams of the University of the Philippines, proceeds of the race fees will go to the UP Athletes through the NoWhereToGoButUP Foundation.
The Great UP Run is a sundown race, with gun start scheduled at:
4:30pm for the 21k category
4:45pm for the 10k category
5:00pm for the 2km category
5:05pm for the 3km category.
General Race Conduct
All roads that form part of the race route will be partially closed during the conduct of the race but will be re-opened after the set cut-off for each race category – 4 hours after the official race start for the 21km category, 2 hours for the 10km category and 1 hour for the 5km category.
Top race category winners will receive awards from the organizers and its sponsors. Right after the awards ceremony, as a kickoff to Season 82, NowheretogobutUP Foundation will be holding a concert featuring homegrown UP artists.
